Staying within budget
When you calculated the budget for the project, you will have indicated what you considered you needed to spend in each of several categories – which ones you used being determined by the objectives of your project.
As the project moves forward, it is likely that you will find that your estimates on how long something will take and how much things cost were a little way off what they are in practice. It is also possible that circumstances have changed, and you need to have a re-think about your activities and possibly even need to carry out additional necessary work and need more money to do this. Either way, you may find that you have underestimated how much you need under some headings, while in others you haven’t spent anything like you expected.
If you feel there are large differences between what you planned and what is happening in reality, you may wish to reallocate some of your budget to different headings. To do this you will need to get agreement from the Union Development Co-ordinator.
You may also feel your project can achieve additional outcomes and needs some additional funding. Again you will need to get agreement for this from the Union Development Co-ordinator.
