Branches, committees and councils
Your project is an integral part of the work of your union, and through it you may be able to develop union policies and practices which will help share your project’s achievements and make them part of the way the union works.
Working with the union
- With members to meet their learning requirements
- Recruiting and training ULRs who are key to meeting members’ aspirations
- Working with officials to brief them on the learning agenda
- Working and briefing at every official level throughout the union
There are a number of ways in which your project can help ULRs to become an integral part of the union. A sure way to take things forward is to develop structures to include ULRs as part of branch activity – especially through working with officials to include ULRs and to put learning as an agenda item at every meeting. Briefings around the learning agenda can be offered to all branch officials, and by working with the union’s Education Officer it may be possible to include the role of ULRs as an integral part of all officials’ training courses.
In this way you will be able to demonstrate how your project has made a difference. Facts, figures or stories all have an impact and getting convincing information in front of the right people can only help to embed what has been achieved through your work.
